Hard to believe, but summer is almost over.
It’s been a busy one. I’ve spent a lot of time on islands this summer, and loved every minute of it. Soon I’ll post pictures from my trips to Grand Manan, NB, and Newfoundland’s Burgeo and Ramea Islands.
When I’ve been at home, I’ve been busy gardening. I’ve been working on an exciting project – conducting a trial of hulless oats, hulless barley and quinoa at six farms in Albert County (thanks to the support of ACORN and the Bauta Family Initiative on Canadian Seed Security.
It’s a great time to be a gardener, or a supporter of local growers. I invite all my followers to discover the farmers of Albert County through one of my summer projects – Fresh from Fundy, Celebrating the Foods of Albert County.
Back to harvesting. Soon I’ll need to get wood in, but right now my woodshed is a curing shed for garlic, oats and quinoa,
